Al Gore sails on solar & Bio

Al Gore's Bio Solar One

As famous for winning the Noble Peace Prize and for winning an Academy Award for his documentary An Inconvenient Truth as he ever was being vice-president of the United States, senior statesman and CO2 arch-enemy Al Gore has purchased what the company that sold it to him calls the Toyota Prius of boats. That means it’s friendly to the environment.

The large houseboat is moored on a lake in Smithville, Tennessee is called “Bio-solar One.” It runs on bio-fuels and only needs to be filled up once a year. Also, solar panels were installed last week, according to Gore spokesperson Kalee Kreider, the solar power system will be capable of fully powering the boat when it is in use. When the boat is moored at the marina, the solar panels will feed renewable energy back into the main power grid.

Considering the fact that Gore is roundly criticized by some as being hypocritical in his rhetoric, charging that his walk don’t always jive with his talk, it’s surpirsing that he would name his boat “Bio-solar One.”, just begging for the inevitable fun with variations of “BS1″ and “B.S. One”. And this new boat is bound to add to that misery for Gore. Oh wait…yep…it’s already started:

Bio-Solar One, Guess Who Has A Huge New Houseboat?

Okay, I’m not naming any names, but someone has a big new houseboat in Tennessee. It uses tons of fuel, but not to worry, it’s tons of bio-diesel fuel. (Where do you suppose it stops for 500 gallons of bio-refueling –@ $4/gal=$2,000– on the lake?) Oh, and as a backup, it uses solar power. Evidently, there are jet skis included, surely powered with solar panels that make everything okay.

And…

Name Al Gore’s hugetastic boat!

By Michelle Malkin • August 6, 2008 10:11 AM Barack Obama wants us all to turn down our thermostats, get rid of our SUVs, and monitor each other’s tire pressure to conserve energy and rescue the planet. How about going after the lavish consumption of his fellow purported eco-warriors?

Let’s start with Green Messiah Al Gore’s massive boat outside Nashville. It’s docked at Hurricane Marina on Center Hill Lake in Smithville, about an hour east of Nashville.

Well, I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised. After all, they let him have it for inventing the Internet too. Some people just aren’t happy with a good thing or know it when they see it.
