Participants from more than 100 countries concluded their discussions on Thursday at the three-day Washington International Renewable Energy Conference (WIREC 2008), pledging to promote renewable energy. Six municipalities in New York State could save nearly a million dollars in energy costs by relying on solar power, according to an audit released by State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.
The audit also found that these local governments could reduce air pollution by millions of pounds over the life of the panels.

Top crude oil consumer United States said it is ”imperative” to expand the use of renewable energy such as wind power and biofuels to reduce its dependence on foreign oil and slow global warming.
